Camp Details 
The Sabre Camp 
1st - 9th August

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The camp is open to all competitive sabre fencers

*Minimum Age Requirement to Attend: Campers must be at least "Fencing Age" 11 for the 2025-2026 season.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE CAMP?

Residential campers are provided 3 meals per day, housing in supervised modern college dorms, and complete training days with 2-3 daily fencing practices and other cross training and performance oriented sessions. Other activities during the week include but are not limited to Whole athlete wellness session, "Make the Call" with referee Matt Tucker, Sports Psychology session, sport nutrition, and injury prevention. US rated Camp competition.

WHAT DOES THE CAMP COST?

Space is limited: Register Early to ensure availability we had a waiting list last year.

$2900 residential camp including lessons 

The Sabre Camp LLC operates on a “first come, first served” basis and all sales are final. In the event that the dorms fill (as has occurred the last two years), The Sabre Camp LLC will then begin a “first come first served” waitlist. If/when an injured athlete withdraws from camp, the spot will be offered to the next person on the waitlist.

2026 REFUND POLICY 

While The Sabre Camp LLC understands there might be extenuating circumstances in personal situations, please note that all sales are final. Refunds, or partial refunds are only provided at the discretion of the camp co-directors. Only provable, medical and/or emergent reasons will be considered. ANY refunds provided at any time will be -less all fees, taxes, and costs. NO refunds will be provided for ANY reason after July 1st 2026. 

HOW DO THE TRAINING GROUPS WORK?

Groupings will be done depending on age and ability.

Throughout the camp week there will be plenty of opportunities for all students to fence each other and the 3rd practice on several evenings will be open bouting where students can fence against everyone from all the groups.

WHO WILL MY CHILD ROOM WITH AT CAMP?

There are primarily double rooms and a limited number of special request single rooms. Most students will stay in doubles and we will do our best to take roommate preferences into account but it is not possible for us to guarantee a roommates in all cases. Please include roommate preferences on the form. In situations where we cannot accommodate a roommate preference, we will generally put students in adjacent rooms to their friends.

WHAT DO CAMPERS NEED TO BRING?

Fencing Equipment: 

All campers need to bring a full set of working fencing equipment including all necessary electric equipment and cords. We will have some equipment available for purchase if items break but it is best to bring spares with you. 

Require Items:

  • fencing pants (knickers) 

  • white fencing jacket

  • electric jacket

  • Fencing mask

  • underarm protector

  • chest protector * if applicable

  • Multiple working body cords and head clips

  • 3 working weapons.

  • Fencing Shoes (Only to be worn in the fencing room)

Required Packing List: 

Clothing:

  • Long pants, shorts, socks, underwear, t-shirts, pajamas and several sweatshirts for when the temperature drops in the evening.

  • Extra t-shirts, socks and underwear since campers may go through multiple pairs in a day. 

  • Swimming pool attire for use in the indoor swimming pool

  • 2-3 pairs of sneakers/fencing shoes highly encouraged. Students will need to change from outside shoes to fencing shoes within the gym.

Linens:

  • Bring bedding: sheets, pillow, blankets or sleeping bag, Bath and Pool Towel

Toiletries:

  • Full toiletry sets including toothbrush, tooth paste, shampoo, shower soap and any other products needed for 9 days away from home. 

  • Shower shoes/pool slip ons.​

Medications as needed:

These must be accompanied by paperwork from the child’s physician and Authorization to Administer medication form which you will complete online.

Cell Phones:

Cell phone use is strictly prohibited during training hours, those who violate this policy will receive a warning and then be asked to leave the session. 

As a reminder, please be sure that all of your child’s belongings are clearly labeled. Please do not allow your child to bring any valuables to camp. The Sabre Camp llc and Wheaton College are not responsible for any lost or stolen belongings.

9.30am - 11.30am. Morning Practice
12:00pm-1:00pm. LUNCH
1:30pm-2:30pm. Afternoon Practice / Flex time  - Depending on grouping 

2.45pm - 3.45pm. Afternoon Practice / Flex time  - Depending on grouping 
3:30pm-5:00pm. Afternoon Practice / Flex time  - Depending on grouping 
5:15pm-6:15pm. DINNER
6:45pm-8:45pm. Evening Practice - Open bouting and lessons
9:00pm - 10pm. Evening social Activities 
10:00pm. All Campers Back in Dorms/Prepare for Bed
10:30pm Quiet Hours / Lights out
